Many Fish Were Caught During Chamber's 26th Annual Ice Fishing Derby

Though it felt more like early spring than winter on Feb. 3, a total of 71 participants came out to the Glasgow Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture's 26th Annual Ice Fishing Derby on Feb. 3. A total of 134 holes were sold at the Fishing Access Site – Dredge Cuts Trout Pond, where the Derby was held, with a total of 68 fish brought to the weight master during noon and 3 p.m., though many more were caught throughout the event.

A guaranteed $2,000 first place was awarded to Trevor Adams, of Nashua, who caught a 6.76 pound Northern at 1:30 p.m.

Second place for $600 was awarded to Wes Phillips, of Opheim, with a 5.46 pound Northern caught at 2:06 p.m.

Third place for $300 was awarded to Colton Danielson, from Plentywood, with a .32 pound Rainbow Trout caught at 12:38 p.m.

Fourth place for $100 was awarded to Dave Nordella, from Livingston, Mont., with a .3 pound Rainbow Trout caught at 12:33 p.m. He was tied by Larry Branson, from Wolf Point, but Nordella caught his fish first.

Smallest fish for $50 in chamber big bucks was caught by Jeff Yoss and Teagen Overcast with a .06 pound Rainbow Trout.

After the event, participants gathered at the Gateway in Fort Peck for the awards ceremony and to tell their fishing stories.
