The Scottie girls basketball team won all three of their games last week to improve their record to 3-3 in conference play, 7-7 overall. Glasgow defeated the Class A Sidney Eagles 62-53 Jan. 23 and rounded out the week with two Class B wins, beating Rocky Boy 55-23 at home Jan. 26 and downing Wolf Point 56-38 on the road Jan. 27.
Glasgow took a 15-13 lead over Sidney at the end of the first quarter and held a 26-25 edge at the half. They trailed 45-42 after three before outscoring the Eagles 20-8 in the final eight minutes of play.
Mayzie Yoakam paced the Scotties with 26 points while Joely Chappell added 16 points. Gina Page scored 12 with Tanae Baker adding 5 and Hayden Green 3 points.
The Scottie JV team won their game 36-32. Paityn Britzman led the squad with 10 points followed by Ava Runner with 6, Riley Evenson-Glasoe and Hannah Holinde 5 each, Haleigh Huntsman and Kelbi Wersal 4 each, and Gina Page 2 points.
Glasgow's C squad won their game 55-51 against the Eagles. Kelbi Wersal and Holinde scored 19 each. Huntsman and Lacey White scored 5 a piece while Bailey Billingsley hit for 4 points. Runner added two and Debra Shields 1 point.
Glasgow ran the court against Rocky Boy, leading 16-6 after one and 35-11 at the half. They outscored the Northern Stars 12-5 in the third and 8-7 in the final eight minutes.
Yoakam poured in 28 points for the Scotties. Page and Green both added 6 with Chappell scoring 5 points. Britzman and Kyndal Shraner both scored 4 points and Macy Martin hit for 2 points.
The Scottie JV team ran away with their game, winning 56-8. Holinde scored 16, leading the team, followed by Wersal with 13 and Runner 11 points. Myli Swindler scored 5 points, Huntsman and Evenson-Glasoe 4 each, and White 2 points.
The Scotties followed the game with a dominant win over Wolf Point, leading 14-3 at the end of one and 27-11 at the half. They outscored the Wolves 17-13 in the third and held on for the 56-38 win.
Chappell led the Scotties with 18 points while Yoakam scored 17 points. Green put in 6, Page 5, Britzman 4 and Tanae Baker and Martin added 2 points each.
The Scottie JV team won 44-22, led by Evenson-Glasoe with 11 points. Page added 8, White 7, Wersal 6, Britzman and Holinde 4 each, and Billingsley and Runner 2 a piece.
The C squad also turned in a win, outscoring Wolf Point 31-17. Billingsley put in 10 to lead the team, followed by Holinde with 9, Wersal with 5, Huntsman with 4 and White with 3 points.
Glasgow hosts Malta Thursday, Feb. 1, for senior night. Girls JV will play at 3:30 p.m., Boys JV 5 p.m., Girls Varsity 6 p.m., with basketball, band and cheer seniors being honored before Boys Varsity at 8 p.m. The Girls C squad will play at 5 p.m. in the Evangelical Church.
The Scotties are in Poplar Friday, Feb. 2, to take on the Indians. The Girls C and JV teams will play at Poplar Middle School at 3 and 4:30 p.m., respectively. Boys C plays at 3, Boys JV at 4:30, Girls Varsity 6 and Boys Varsity at 7:30 p.m. all at Poplar High School.
