Glasgow Elks Lodge Hosts Mid-Winter Convention

The Glasgow Elks Lodge was a happening place this past weekend as they hosted the Montana State Elks association's 2024 Mid-Winter Convention, bringing over 130 Elks members and guests from all over the state, and even some from Idaho and Oregon.

The convention started unofficially on Thursday night with a Past State Presidents' and Officers' meetings as well as bingo at the Lodge, and things officially kicked off Friday morning with "Welcome to Glasgow" speeches given by Glasgow Elks Lodge #1922 Exalted Ruler Maxwell Knodel, Glasgow City Councilman Stan Ozark, and local businesswoman and Glasgow Downtown Association member Haylie Shipp.

The Convention brought all these Elks members here from far and near to discuss matters such as membership, club management, officers elections and more, and also brought the members educational sessions for topics like budgeting, veterans affairs, Americanism, and parliamentary procedure, just to name a few.

All members were encouraged to wear red on Friday's sessions to Remember Everyone Deployed, just one drop in the ocean of support the Elks demonstrates for our nation's veterans.

The Elks, formally known as the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (or BPOE) is an American fraternal order founded in 1868 in New York and quickly spread throughout the nation. Currently, it has about 1.3 million members spread through 2,200 local lodges. It is an organization with charitable giving being its main mission, particularly to supporting our military servicemen and veterans, drug awareness programs, and educational opportunities for boys and girls no matter their situation.

Glasgow Elks Lodge #1922 is always ready to grow their herd- swing by the Lodge in downtown Glasgow at 309 2nd Avenue South and grab an application, or reach out to any of the Glasgow Elks Lodge members
