Scottie Girls Split Games

Hold 2-3, 4-7 Overall Record

The Scottie girls basketball team dropped a close 52-48 contest to the visiting Fairview Warriors Jan. 18 before turning around to post a 54-33 victory over the Harlem Wildcats the following night. Glasgow improved their record to 2-3, 4-7 overall with the win over Harlem.

The Scotties led early against Fairview, going up 11-5 at the end of one and 21-11 at the half. Glasgow maintained a 1-point lead, 31-30, heading into the final quarter where the visiting Warriors outscored them 22-18.

Mayzie Yoakam led all scorers with 20 points. Kyndal Schraner hit for 9, Tanae Baker 6 and Hayden Green 5 points. Gina Page and Joely Chappell both added 4 points.

The Scottie JV team won their two-quarter game 13-12. Kelbi Wersal and Hannah Holinde paced the team with 4 points each. Riley Evenson-Glasoe scored 3 and Gina Page 2 points.

Glasgow took a 9-8 lead after one against Harlem before pouring in 19 points in the second quarter for a 28-16 lead at the half. Harlem outscored the Scotties 12-8 in the third for a 36-28 Scottie lead heading into the final eight minutes where Glasgow connected for another 18 points while holding the Wildcats to 5 points.

Yoakam again led all scorers, connecting for 29 points. Green scored 12, Chappell 8, Page 4 and Paityn Britzman 1 point.

The JV girls dropped a tight 40-36 contest to the Wildcats. Britzman scored 9 for Glasgow followed by Holinde with 7 and Haleigh Huntsman with 6 points. Wersal and Lacey White scored 4 each with Page, Bailey Billingsley and Ava Runner hitting for 2 points a piece.

The Scottie C squad won a decisive 53-30 game against Harlem, led by Billingsley with 19 points. Wersal added 12 in the win. Myli Swindler scored 6, Huntsman and Holinde 5 each and Runner 4 points.

Glasgow was in Sidney Jan. 23, for C, JV and varsity action but scores were unavailable at press time.

Glasgow hosts Rocky Boy Friday, Jan. 26. The JV boys will play at 3 p.m. in Scottie gymnasium with the C boys teams playing at 4:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Church. JV Girls will play at 4:30 p.m. in Scottie gymnasium followed by varsity girls at 6 p.m. and varsity boys at 7:30 p.m.

The Scotties will be in Wolf Point to take on the Wolves Saturday, Jan. 27 with C, JV and varsity action.
