Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
At the conclusion of the Valley County Commissioners regular Discussion and Decision meeting on Jan. 10, Valley County Sheriff Tom Boyer introduced the newest sheriff deputies to the Commissioners. Kyle Goodman and William Charbonneau were then sworn in as official Valley County deputies after starting in their new role earlier in the week on Jan. 8.
Both deputies came from the Wolf Point Police Department and decided to serve Valley County as a way to further their impact in helping people. "I really enjoy helping people on their worst day or just helping people in the community. It's unique in that it's not just a desk job," stated Charbonneau.
Charbonneau, who is originally from Poplar, has been serving in the law enforcement sector for four and a half years and is currently getting settled in Glasgow. "I choose [law enforcement] very young. My dad's a retired law enforcement and I just really enjoy it," explained Charbonneau on why he has decided to serve. The beauty of Valley County is what gravitated him to be a part of the Valley County Sheriff's department and help out the citizens of the community. "It's just a beautiful area. There are some conveniences here such as the jiu-jitsu place and Reynolds." When not on duty, he enjoys his many hobbies including running and fishing.
Goodman is originally from Indianna and has lived in Wolf Point since 2009 after his mom accepted a teaching position. Though he has only been in law enforcement since September he is looking forward to learning from his colleagues, meeting new people and helping out in the community in any way that he can. He is also excited to learn about the new opportunities to grow as a law enforcement officer within Valley County, which gravitated him towards the position. When not on duty, he enjoys spending time with his family and two children.
Since both deputies took the oath of office on Jan. 10, they now look forward to field training. Goodman is expected to have 10 weeks of training while Charbonneau will have a shorter time due to already being certified. Both newly sworn in deputies will be working with the Sheriff's Department's two field training officers during their training to learn the ins and outs of the Valley County Sheriff's Department.
