Fall to Assiniboine
The Glasgow Ice Dawgs blew out the Havre Ice Hawks 11-0 Jan. 5 before dropping a pair of games to the Assiniboine Rebels at home. Glasgow lost a 7-6 overtime thriller Jan. 6 to the visiting Canadians before dropping a 6-3 contest the following day.
The Ice Dawgs went up 5-0 after one in Havre Friday, on goals from Bode Barnett (PPG), assist Tavin Boland; Brody Hansen, assist Boland; Hansen, assist Lex Fairclough; Connor Koski, and Aiden Price, assist Hansen.
Glasgow scored three more times in the second, and three in the third period. Koski, assist Dillon Hughes; Peyton Smith, assist Tatum Hansen, and Charlie Cornwell made it 8-0 heading into intermission. Boland; B. Hansen, assist Cornwell, and Barnett, assist Tristan Powell, sealed the win in the final period.
Goalie Jacob Potter earned the shutout after turning away 14 shots on his net. The Ice Dawgs offense put 61 pucks on the Hawks' netminders.
Glasgow had 20 penalty minutes on six calls while Havre had four infractions for eight minutes in the box. Smith, interference, first; Boland, roughing, second; Halle Hunter, roughing, second; Smith, boarding and misconduct 2-and-10, third, and Fairclough, unsportsmanlike, third, served time for the Dawgs.
Glasgow outshot Assiniboine 48-41 in their first matchup Saturday, but lost in 3-on-3 overtime after the Rebels tied the game in the third period.
The Dawgs scored twice in the first while holding the visitors to one goal. B. Hansen got the first goal and assisted on Barnett's in the initial period. Glasgow put up four more goals in the second while thhe Rebels found the back of the net three times. Barnett, assist T. Hansen; Barnett, assist Elijah Howland; Zevin Kummerfeldt, assist Boland, and T. Hansen made it 6-4 heading into the second intermission.
Assiniboine scored twice in the third to force overtime where they found the back of the net for the win.
Glasgow took 10 penalties in the game, giving up two PPGs to the visitors, while Assiniboine had two penalties. Cornwell, unsportsmanlike, first; Boland, check from behind and unsportsmanlike 2-and-10, first; B. Hansen, crosscheck, first; Fairclough, interference, second; Hughes, roughing, second; Hughes, goaltender interference, third; Mason Hunter, roughing, third; Smith, interference, third, and Barnett, hooking, third, served time in the sin bin.
Potter turned away 34 of 41 shots for an 82.9 save percentage. Glasgow put 48 pucks on net at the other end of the ice.
The Dawgs put up one goal in each period Sunday but Assiniboine scored twice in the first and three times in the second to earn the win.
Boland scored first for Glasgow with help from Barnett. Barnett found the back of the net with help from Price and Josh Llewellyn in the second. Barnett also scored in the third.
Glasgow gave up four PPGs on 11 penalties while Assiniboine held their infractions to five in the game. Fairclough, tripping, first; bench, too many men, first; Smith, roughing, first; B. Potter had 21 saves for the Dawgs, a .778 save percentage. Glasgow's offense put 46 shots on net.
The Bantam Ice Dawgs dropped a double header in Miles City, falling 8-1 Jan. 5 and 12-2 Jan. 6. Ian Anderson and Liam Allen, assist Tay Morehouse, scored for Glasgow in the first game. Goalie Rivers Sugg turned away 33 shots while the Dawgs' offense put nine pucks on net. Jack Miller was the lone goal scorer for Glasgow in the second game. The Dawgs put 10 pucks on net and Sugg faced 44 attempts on his net.
Glasgow hosts the Miles City Generals this week for both high school and bantam action. The Bantams will play three games: 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. The high school teams face off at 8 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
