Another record has been broken! This past month was the warmest December on record for Glasgow. The previous record was in 1999 and the last time we had a top 10 warmest December was in 2020 when the average temperature was 27.2 degrees.

Four daily temperature records were set this past December. Record high maximum temperatures were set on the 6th and 13th and record high minimum temperatures were set on the 6th and 7th.

This is also the fourth time in recorded history that we haven't dipped below zero during December. The other years were 2020, 1997, and 1959.

Finally, we ended 2023 as the eighth warmest year on record for the region with an average annual temperature of 45.8 degrees. The last time we had a top 10 warmest year was in 2021 which had an annual average temperature of 46.9 degrees (second warmest year on record).

This month also tied at 17th place for the lowest snowfall recorded in December here in Glasgow. The monthly total was 1.2 inches (normal is 8.3 inches).
