The Glasgow Ice Dawgs took extra time but pulled off a win in a shootout against the Richland Rangers Dec. 16. Glasgow earned the 3-2 win after both teams failed to score in 3-on-3 overtime. Goalie Jacob Potter shut out the Rangers in the shootout. Peyton Smith and Bode Barnett both put the puck past the Richland netminder in the shootout.
Coach Michael Hunter said the team played their best game so far this year. “Offense, defense, goaltending was on. Great way to go into the break.”
Richland lit up the scoreboard first, getting the puck past Potter with 9:57 left in the second period. Glasgow answered 36 seconds later when Connor Koski scored with an assist from Tristan Powell.
The Dawgs went up with 13:45 left in the game on a goal from Zevin Kummerfeldt, but Richland tied the game with 1:40 remaining.
Potter faced 25 shots in the game while his teammates put the same number of pucks on the Richland net at the other end of the ice.
Glasgow had six penalties for 12 minutes in the box while the Rangers held theirs to four for eight minutes. Charlie Cornwell, interference; Mason Hunter, cross check and interference; Barnett, slashing; Brody Hansen, unsportsmanlike, and Smith, unsportsmanlike, served time for the Dawgs.
The Bantam Ice Dawgs won their season league opening double header against the Billings Bulls Dec. 15 and 16. Glasgow won 8-3 Friday and 10-2 Saturday at the Valley Event Center.

The Ice Dawgs host the Assiniboia, Saskatoon, team Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 6-7, 2023. Glasgow will play at 4 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. Both the High School and Bantams play the Miles City Generals at home Friday and Saturday, Jan. 12-13, 2023. The High School teams play at 8 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. The Bantams play at 6 p.m. Friday and at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday.
