Scottie Boys Win Two at Woodden

The Scottie boys basketball team cruised to two wins at the Woodden Tournament this past weekend to improve their record to 2-1. Glasgow defeated Big Timber 66-26 Friday night and downed Joliet 68-51 Saturday.

Glasgow opened the weekend by shutting Big Timber out in the first quarter of the game while scoring 22 points. The Scotties doubled their score in the second while holding the Sheepherders to 6 points. Big Timber outscored Glasgow 13-12 in the third but Glasgow put up 10 in the fourth while holding the Herders to 7 points.

Myles Yoakam paced Glasgow with 17 points followed by Cade Hudyma with 14, Wyatt Babb with 12 and Toryn Richards with 11 points. Connor Hudyma added 5, Wyattt Sugg 4 and Andy Hansen 3 points in the victory.

Babb led in assists with seven followed by Yoakam with four and Nick Solorzano, Hanson and Co. Hudyma with three each. Ca. Hudyma earned a double-double with 10 rebounds. Hanson pulled down eight boards and Babb grabbed seven. Hanson, Yoakam and Babb had two steals a piece.

Joliet played a closer game with Glasgow with the Scotties leading 16-14 at the end of one. Glasgow took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring Joliet 21-10. Glasgow continued to run up the score with 17 in the third and 14 in the fourth while holding Joliet to 18 and 9 in the same quarters.

Ca. Hudyma led the squad with 34 points while Yoakam hit for 15 and Babb for 10 points. Solorzano scored 4, Richards 3 and Co. Hudyma 2 points.

Richards led in steals with three followed by Babb with two and Solorzano, Co. Hudyma and Yoakam with one each. Babb led in assists with six followed by Richards with five and Solorzano, Co. Hudyma and Yoakam each with three. Babb also led in rebounds with eight, followed by Ca. Hudyma and Co. Hudyma, both with seven.

Glasgow plays the Class A Sidney Eagles Friday, Dec. 15. The boys C squad and girls C squad will play at the Evangelical Church at 3 and 4:30 p.m., respectively. Girls JV will be played at 3 p.m. in the high school gym followed by boys JV at 4:30, girls varsity at 6 and boys varsity at 7:30 p.m.
