Glasgow’s girls basketball team split their games at the annual Woodden Tournament this past weekend. The Scotties fell 48-36 in their opening game to Big Timber Friday before rebounding with a 60-23 win over Joliet Saturday.
Glasgow fell behind 8-4 in the first quarter against the Sheepherders before tightening the score to 18-16 at the half. Big Timber outscored Glasgow 13-4 in the third and 17-16 in the final quarter.
Mayzie Yoakam paced the Scotties with 17 points. Hayden Green added 9 and Joely Chappell 6 points. Paityn Britzman and Kyndal Schraner connected for 2 each.
Saturday Glasgow cruised out to an early 21-7 lead after 8 minutes and increased it to 38-12 at the half. The Scotties held Joliet to a single point in the third while putting 9 on their side of the scoreboard and outscored Joliet 13-10 in the final quarter.
Chappell led Glasgow with 15 points followed by Green with 13 and Yoakam with 12 points. Schraner put up 7 points while Riley Evenson-Glasoe and Britzman hit for 4 each. Tanae Baker and Macy Martin had a bucket each and Gina Page sank a free throw.
The Scotties sit at 1-2 early in the season in non-conference play and will look to improve that record against the Class A Sidney Eagles Friday, Dec. 15. The boys C squad and girls C squad will play at the Evangelical Church at 3 and 4:30 p.m., respectively. Girls JV will be played at 3 p.m. in the high school gym followed by boys JV at 4:30, girls varsity at 6 and boys varsity at 7:30 p.m.
