The Scottie girls basketball team lost 47-40 in their season opener on the road against the Class A Glendive Red Devils. Glasgow trailed 12-3 after one quarter but closed the gap to 16-12 by the half. Glendive outscored Glasgow 18-15 in the third while both teams put up 13 in the final quarter.
Mayzie Yoakam led the Scotties with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Hayden Green scored 12 while Joely Chappell connected for 4 and Kyndal Schraner added 3 points. Macy Martin and Paityn Britzman scored 2 points each.
Glasgow’s JV team won their game in a come-from-behind performance in the fourth quarter, 36-30. Ava Runner and Hannah Holinde each put up 6 points while Haleigh Huntsman and Paityn Britzman scored 5 a piece. Gina Page scored 4 points, Lacey White 3 and Myli Swindler 2 points.
The Scottie C squad brought home a 48-22 victory. Runner put up 13 points. White and Holinde both scored 11 points, followed by Huntsman with 10. Swindler added 3 points.
Glasgow’s varsity squad will compete at the Woodden Memorial Tournament in Red Lodge Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9. The Scotties play Big Timber at 3:30 p.m. Friday and Joliet at 11 a.m. Saturday.
