The North Country Mavericks basketball team lost their two first games of the season as they fell to the Jordan Mustangs on Friday, December 1, and the Melstone Broncs on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Despite being low in numbers, with eight athletes, North Country was able to compete with Melstone, but fell 51-46. They lost to Jordan 54-35.
This Thursday, Dec. 7, the Mavericks will head to the Lewistown Showcase to face the Winifred-Roy Outlaws and then the Twin Bridges Falcons on Friday, December 8.
In the Mavericks’ loss to Melstone, Blaine Downing had 20 points. Coy Bowman had 14 points, Jake Brown had seven points, Laytin Erickson had three points, and Andrew Boucher had 2 points.
In the team’s loss to Jordan, Downing had a team-leading 12 points. Bowman had nine points, Kade Strommen had seven points, and Erickson had seven points.
