Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture presented Winter Wonderland Christmas Stroll and Parade of Lights on Dec. 2. There was something for everyone as the month of December begins and the community gets ready for the holiday season.
Santa took a break from the North Pole and arrived in Glasgow at 1:30 p.m., escorted by the Glasgow Fire Department. He then made the rounds around the downtown Glasgow businesses and made a stop at Reynold's Market and Albertsons.
Families and children had a chance of seeing a free screening of Abominable at Valley Cinema, sponsored by Albertsons and Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital.
After the movie, children were able to sit on Santa's lap at Pehlke's Furniture to see if they have been naughty or nice and provide a list of what they would like the elves to make and for Santa to bring on Christmas Eve.
In front of the Post Office, the Glasgow High School choir got everybody in the spirit with two carols and then after visiting with children, Santa provided the tree lighting countdown. As families, friends and groups waited for the parade to start, Sean R. Heavey provided a photo opportunity in his gallery while the Loaded Toad was busy with customers wanting a quick pick me up coffee, treats and/or hot chocolate.
The parade started off with Santa riding on the City of Glasgow Fire Department truck with other floats from local businesses and organizations following. A total of 14 floats made their way from behind Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital down to 1st Ave. S., to 2nd Ave. S. to in front of Prairie Ridge and then back to the Hospital.
