Governor Gianforte Recognizes Veterans At The State Capitol

Joined by veterans and their families at the State Capitol, Governor Greg Gianforte recognized four recipients of the 2022 Montana Governor's Veteran Commendation for their service to the nation and Montana communities.

"We owe our veterans an eternal debt of gratitude for answering our nation's call to service," Gov. Gianforte said. "These veterans extended their service beyond the armed forces, making the Last Best Place an even better place through their commitment to community."

During the ceremony, the governor honored several veterans, including U.S. Army Captain Steven Page, of Billings, U.S. Navy Petty Officer Paul Thomae, of Laurel, U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Les Johnson, of Havre, and U.S. Army Specialist William Dooley, of Wolf Creek.

The governor presented veterans with a Montana State Flag flown over the State Capitol in their honor and letters thanking them for their lives of service to country and community.

Fifty-one veterans received the award in 2022.

"For the governor to take the time out to do this for our veterans, it's very much appreciated. Thank you to my family, I couldn't have done all of this by myself," U.S. Air Force veteran Les Johnson said.
