Community Comes Together For Milam Family

Glasgow school students, staff and the community came together this past week to help raise funds to assist with the travel and medical costs for the Milam family. Glasgow Middle School student Jack Milam has been diagnosed with a form of cancer called Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. He had the tumor removed in Billings and the family recently traveled to Denver for a PET scan, removal of the lymph notes and to prepare for the start of chemotherapy.

During parent teacher conferences at both Irle Elementary and Glasgow Middle School this past week, parents and teachers organized a bake sale in addition to a $1 hat day on Nov. 7. A raffle was also put together for a basket filled to the brim with donations from local businesses including Baker's Jewelry, Albertsons, Shippwrecked, Red Barn, D&G, Taco Shack, Blend 10, The Loaded Toad, Eugenes, RedByrd Designs, Naked Acres, 5th Avenue Pharmacy and Gifts, Robyn's Nest, Big Sky Images and Scottie Nation. The drawing was held on Nov. 9 with Shara Gibson bringing home the entire basket.

At the end of the week, after totaling the gift basket raffle sales, bake sale, Hat Day and other donations, a total of $8,465 was provided to the Milam family to help with these unexpected expenses.

For those who would like to donate, there is a GoFundMe set up. Donations can be made through, http://www.gofundme.com/f/travel-expenses-for-jacks-medical.
