Mavericks Head to State

Place 2nd At Eastern C Divisional

The North Country Mavericks claimed second place at the Eastern C Divisional Volleyball Tournament held in Sidney last weekend. North Country started the tournament with a loss against the Circle Wildcats. The Mavericks moved into the backside of the bracket where they defeated the Scobey Spartans and the Plentywood Wildcats. They moved on to defeat the Jordan Mustangs to continue playing Saturday.

The Mavericks earned some revenge Saturday, defeating Circle in the first match of the day. In the championship match, North Country fell to the Broadus Hawks.

Head coach Char Wasson said about Circle and Scobey, "We came out a little flat in our first tournament match, giving us our second loss of the season. Then Friday afternoon at noon we had our second tournament match against Scobey. With the loss on Thursday, the girls were in a long haul on Friday and Saturday to work themselves back into the Championship. We started Friday off with a bang beating Scobey in three."
