Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

North Country Volleyball

Tuesday, Oct. 17, we traveled to Frazer to play our last conference game of the season. We came ready to play. Right off the bat we had strong serving in set 1. Kendall Scheffelmear served 20 times and kept things rolling quickly. Set 2 we settled in and continued to get the job done. Set 3 the JV kids went in and finished out the match playing strong like they always do.

Wednesday, Oct. 18, Chinook traveled to Whitewater for a non-conference match. We played Chinook early in the season first weekend in September in a tournament where we lost 2 sets to them. Tonight we were firing on all cylinders. We took control of the match in the first set and never let up. Our serve-receive passing allowed us to attack from any position and the sets were right where they needed to be to get our hard hits.

The season came to a close on a very good note for the varsity: we have lost only one match this season early in the year to Plentywood and with that loss, we are seeded 2nd place going into our District Tournament next week. We play Thursday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. on Court A against the winner of Culbertson and Nashua.

I want to give a shout-out to the JV girls who worked hard all season and had twice as many matches as last year. They picked up their first loss against Chinook JV in 5 on Wednesday. Their dedication and ability to get better throughout the season by pushing the Varsity each day in practice is what I appreciated the most out of them this season.

The District 1C Volleyball Tournament runs Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 26-28, in Plentywood.
