Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The community had the opportunity to get some scares in Friday the 13th while attending the Glasgow Middle School sixth- and seventh-grade production of "Midnight Murder: An Original Murder Mystery," written by Brennan Peters and overseen by Lizzie Peters and Shyanne Wallace.
Over the past two weeks, 22 sixth and seventh grade Drama Camp students came to the Glasgow High School auditorium to learn the ins and outs of putting on a show, from not only learning their lines and stage presence but also set design, costume design and lighting. All students were provided a storyline with a list of characters, however the students and stage directions were written by the students with the help of their high school directors. As a result, the audience experienced three versions of the same storyline, but with three different murderers. The Drama camp students were directed by high school students, Tanner White, Emily Bell, Jourdyn Fercho, Vick Overbey and Gabe Proctor.
The audience traveled back in time to the 1960s to the Dale Glasgow Memorial Hospital in a rural town called Burlington. Dave Johnson was stabbed in his home and rushed to the hospital, it was an attempted murder! However the murderer wasn't finished, as they followed Dave to the hospital to follow through with their plans.
With sound and light design by Glasgow students Connor Whitmer, Braylon Partridge and Garrett Thompson, each version of the production brought the suspense, excitement and scare factor expected for a Friday the 13th holiday.
There appeared to be an audience consensus that the most shocking character of the three productions was Secretary Dottie, played by Leshia Stutheit, in version three as she was claimed the murderer and then proceeded to murder her step-sister Head Nurse Mary, played by Amani Probert, with the blooded knife first used on Johnson.
After all three versions of the production, the cast members signed autographs and memorabilia cast t-shirts in the high school cafeteria while also posing for pictures in their production attire.
