Zach Moser, of Glasgow, is the new Glasgow Downtown Association's Hot Dog Eating Champion after eating nine whole hot dogs and buns, as well as one bun in four minutes on Sept. 20.
The Glasgow Downtown Association (GDA) hosted their last Alive at Five of the year on Sept. 20, hosted by Bank of Glasgow with music provided by Pippin DJ.
After preliminary rounds during the other Alive at Five events this summer, GDA hosted the Hot Dog Eating Contest Championship Calcutta with competitors Zach Moser, Trisitan Ryan, Juice Fischer and Ava Schultz. Also coming back to defend his title as Hot Dog Eating Champion last year was Marc Wethern.
After four minutes, Moser came out victorious, eating nine whole hot dogs and buns as well as one individual bun, becoming the 2023 Hot Dog Eating Champion, taking home the trophy, $65 and the bragging rights. Last year's champion Wethern came in second place, wining $25, while Andy Fahlgren was the big Calcutta winner, bringing home $321.
Ruth Dowell was also a lucky winner of the evening, winning $145 during the evening's 50/50.
With the summer winding down, the GDA will be starting to plan the annual Polar Putt Putt and have sights set on next year's Alive at Five events. If interested in hosting at either event, contact Madelyn House at [email protected].
