Glasgow Middle School

Volleyball

The GMS volleyball squads have dealt with some roster and coaching changes due to injuries and absences. Glasgow’s Red team now has three eighth-graders with seventh-graders rounding out the roster. Coach Julia Kirkland said, “So it was basically starting all over with a new team, but I’m excited for our next matches!”

The Scotties attended the Scobey Jamboree Sept. 16. The Red team lost to the Scobey eighth-grade team 13-25, 20-25 before defeating the Wolf Point eighth-grade team 28-26, 25-19.

“Our first game didn’t go so well because we basically beat ourselves with serving and hitting everything into the net or out of bounds, but we finally worked some kinks out and won our second match against Wolf Point,” Coach Kirkland said.

Scores for the White team were unavailable.

The Scotties will attend the Harlem Jamboree Saturday, Sept. 23. The Middle School Volleyball District Tournament will be in Poplar Saturday, Sept. 30.

Football

The Glasgow Middle School football team won their road game against the Wolves 20-26 in Wolf Point Sept. 16.

The Scotties host the Sidney Eagles Saturday, Sept. 23, for a 10 a.m. game at Scottie Field. Glasgow will be in Havre Saturday, Sept. 30, to take on the Blue Ponies.

Cross Country

“Another strong race at the Lewistown Invitational on Saturday for the Glasgow Middle School XC team,” said head coach Will Larsen. “We didn’t have have a lot of info on the course other than it was hilly, so we didn’t know what to expect coming in.

“On what was their toughest course yet, our boys came away with another first place finish and our young ladies raced their hearts out to a seventh place finish, with that placement not doing them justice at all. This was a big meet with a lot of schools we’ve never seen before and these kids left it all on the course.”

The Scottie boys earned 66 team points for their win while the girls had 142 team points. Glasgow’s boys put up five personal records and one season record while the girls hit three season bests.

Coach Larsen enthused, “Glasgow, I”m not kidding: Watch out for this group in the future!” He extended his gratitude to Coaches Wyse and Huntsman for their hard work with the crew and added, “Busy week up ahead with the Frazer meet on Thursday and Miles City on Saturday. Go Scotties!”
