Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
I'd just like to express my gratitude towards the Glasgow community. I grew up in Hinsdale. I played football for Glasgow and had more track practices in Glasgow than I did in Hinsdale for pole vaulting. Many Glasgow families, (Hartsocks, Kittlesons, Hughes, Remus, Riggins, Corys, Flatens, Krumwiedes... I could do this all day...), made me feel at home and always helped/watched out for me.
Don't get me wrong, life is not only about sports, however, many life lessons are learned through these "silly games". Hell it paid for my college. Work ethic, sportsmanship, health, and friendships are just a few positive things to mention. This day and age the expense of life can be flat out tough. Sometimes that causes us to lose track of the big picture.
Glasgow is the big brother/sister to our surrounding areas. You might think "well these surrounding areas can help foot the bill then". Well here we are. I know many, (myself, wife, and brothers) and many people from Hinsdale, Nashua, Opheim, Saco, Frazer, Whitewater, and Malta living in town and paying these taxes. Older generations who built/maintained our facilities and created this community were not acting as selfish individuals. It might not have directly impacted them personally but they knew it would impact others. And it did.
I gladly will repay my debt to such a great community who has given me opportunities through out my life. Even though this might not directly impact you today, it might impact your kids, grandkids, the surrounding area kids or even the less fortunate who might come back and continue to improve this community.
Go Scotties!... Raiders, Vikings, Porcupines, Bear Cubs, Panthers, Spartans, Penguins, Coyotes, Lions, Mustangs, and Wolves! I vote for Scottie Recharge!
Here to serve all the hard working and those willing to work,
