Milk River Chapter, Montana State Society, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution members Joy Linn, Melissa Ancell and Elinor Lindsey joined Glasgow Mayor Rod Karst to sign the chapter's Constitution Week Proclamation.
Constitution Week is celebrated annually during the week of September 17 through 23, to commemorate it's history, importance and bring attention to how it still services us today.
By joint resolution, on Aug. 2, 1956, (36U.S.C.159) the Congress designated this week as "Constitution Week." This celebration of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Constitution Week Proclamation
Whereas, September 17, 2023 marks the two hundred and thirty sixth anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and
Whereas, it is fitting and proper to officially recognize this magnificent document and the anniversary of its creation; and
Whereas, it is fitting and proper to officially recognize the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate the occasion; and
Whereas, public law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States of American designating September 17th thorugh September 23rd as constitution week;
NOW THEREFORE, I Mayor Rod Karst of the City Glasgow, MT do hereby proclaim September 17th through September 23rd, 2023 to be
CONSTITUTION WEEK
in Glasgow, MT and ask our citizens to reaffirm the ideals the Framers of the Constitution had in 1787.
