Sharon Kay Berrisford

Sharon Kay (Peterson) Berrisford, age 79, of Glasgow, Mont., died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital, in Glasgow, Mont.

Family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Bell Mortuary, Glasgow. Memorial services will be Friday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. at Bell Mortuary with Howard Pippin officiating. A reception will follow at VFW Post 3107 in Glasgow.

She was born March 11, 1944, in Glasgow to George and Esther (Sunford) Peterson. Sharon received her education at Saco Public Schools, graduating from SHS.

Sharon married Robert "Bear" Berrisford on Sept. 3, 1961, at the Lutheran Church in Hinsdale, Mont. She and Bear lived in Saco, Mont., after they were married. Bear worked at the McChestney Feed Ranch while Sharon was working for Stuart Thompson at Pay-n-Save wrapping meat in his butcher shop.

They eventually moved to Glasgow where they still reside. She and Bear were blessed with three children: Carlo, born in 1962, Carmen in 1964, and Marlo in 1966. Sharon and Bear would have had their 62nd anniversary on Sept. 3, 2023.

Sharon worked as a lunch assistant at the East Side School, worked for AW Pratt, Hi Hat, Taco John's, and also at Sam's Supper Club.

Sh and her daughter Carmen purchased the Johnnie's Café and ran it for 9 ½ years. Sharon was a multi-talented person and used her talents in various ways. She worked at a couple of places after that, including Quick n Tasty and the Soroptimist. Sharon was known as an ambitious worker and her downtime was spent working in her yard to make it beautiful with flowers and her painted ceramics, which was also one of her hobbies.

Sharon was a very important part of her grandchildren's lives. She loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, no matter if or how much time she was able to spend with them. Sharon helped with Josh, while Marlo was working, and loved doing it. They would watch "How It's Made" and Josh would get ideas on how things worked and how to build them. Josh had helped remodel Grandma Sharon's bathroom to be accessible to her after her stroke. Sharon loved to spend time with Chance and Baylee. She and Josh flew to Texas to spend time with Carmen and Duane and meet Chance when he was born. Sharon and Bear both took the trip to Texas to help Carmen and Duane welcome Baylee to the family. Baylee and Chance enjoyed summer trips to Montana to help Grandma Sharon with her flowers, mowing, cooking, and countless hours of visiting and catching up with each other. Baylee loved to go walking with Grandma Sharon and the dogs, making trips to Dairy Queen. Sharon enjoyed the times that she got to spend with Carlo's daughters, Jessica and Krystal. Sharon and Bear made a trip to Kansas to visit the girls. They also traveled to Krystal's college graduation, as she and Bear were proud of her achievement. Sharon and Bear also had a paper route and loved to take Jessica on the route with them. Sharon loved the girls, no matter how much time she was able to spend with them. Sharon was also blessed to be a great-grandmother of Kylah, Myra, Elias, Sophia, and Logan.

Sharon and Bear enjoyed many years of memories together. She loved traveling with him during his years of playing in the band with Bernie and the Sundowners, Dudley and the Deadbeats, and Neumiller's band, Nite Train. Sharon loved dancing to their music or just listening to it. She loved dancing.

She also loved traveling with the bowling teams and, also, the Elks Conventions.

Sharon and Bear took trips to Las Vegas, San Francisco, Mesa, Chicago, New Orleans (during Mardi-Gras) and Florida when Bear worked for Sinclair Distributer.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ester (Sunford) Peterson; sisters Shirley McCarty and Karen Rodrigez; and stepbrother Larry Jo Sunford.

Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bear"; her children, Carlo Berrisford, of Nashua, Mont., Carmen Berrisford (Duane Lawrence), of Abilene, Texas, and Marlo Aiken, of Glasgow; grandchildren Jessica, Krystal, Joshua, Chance, and Baylee; great-grandchildren Elias, Sophia, Logan, Myra, and Kylah; and stepbrother, Gary Dale Sunford of Turner, Mont.

Sharon was blessed to have many lifelong friends and family to love, visit, and spend time with.
