Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Edward "Ed" William Augustas Clark passed away from a major stroke on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, surrounded by his wife, Shar, sister-in-law Laura, and cousin, Nancy Michell (Clark), from Victoria, B.C.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
Ed was born on April 17, 1950, to Ted and Marian (Thurlow) Clark in Coronach, Saskatchewan. He was an only child, raised on a farm east of Coronach. He graduated from high school in Coronach as a 'Colt' and then he worked various jobs in that area as well as in Regina. In 1985 he became employed with the Rural Municipality of Happy Valley #10 in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. He had a reputation as "an awesome road grader operator." He retired in 2018 after 33 years of service.
Edward married Sharleen Knight, of Glasgow, Mont., on June 22, 2007 in an international wedding ceremony at First Lutheran Church in Glasgow. Edward and Shar made their home together in Big Beaver, Saskatchewan.
Ed's love for classic vehicles was apparent as he restored numerous trucks, including Shar's F-150. Shar was truly proud to cruise in that '75 Ford. Traveling to towns on both sides of the border to "exchange exaggerated stories" with special friends, "talk shop," and get an "ugly burger" in Scobey or food at Joey's Seafood in Weyburn made Ed's days complete. Going from one country to the other, Ed valued the visits he had with the border patrol officers. Ed's belly laughs will certainly be remembered. Some remember him as Big Ed, a giant of a man that was blessed with a heart just as big.
Preceding Edward in death were his parents; a young daughter; and Sharleen's infant granddaughter, Lyanna.
Ed is survived by his wife, Sharleen Knight Clark; her daughters, Odena (Justin) Dopp and RaeLynn (Edward) Van Sickle; sisters-in-law Laura Haefer, Doris (Rick) Leader, and Julie (Charlie) Swanson; Shar's grandchildren Jay (Allie), Michele (Robert), Alexa and Ashlyn; and many cousins in Canada and the United States.
Donations may be made in Edward's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society (55 St. Clair Avenue West, Suite 500, Toronto, Ontario M4V 2Y7) or to a charity of your choice.
