GKST Sends All 18 Divisional Swimmers to State

Will Fuhrman forced a race-off in the 8 & Under 50 freestyle Saturday after tying for 6th place. He placed 6th in the final event Sunday after knocking 1.77 seconds off his time from the preliminary.
The 11-12 Mixed Medlay Relay broke the Chinook pool record, finishing in second place with a time of 2:48.70. Teammates Finley Tatafu (free), Holt Huntsman (fly), Nik Kulczyk (back) and Amiya Ryan (breast) pose after the race.
The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team has come through this season despite a significant setback: the closure of the Glasgow Pool. The Thunder wore hard hats and safety vests during the Parade of Athletes at the Divisional Swim Meet in Chinook this past weekend while holding a sign that said "No Pool, No Problem" and they delivered.
All 18 swimmers who competed at the penultimate 2023 event earned a spot at the State Swim Meet in Conrad this coming weekend.
"I am very proud of how we performed at Divisionals," said head coach Ethan Shrader. "Everyone dropped time in at least one event. We all swam our best and did amazing. The 8 and Under Mixed Free Relay broke a pool record during their race. I am excited to see what State will hold."
The team had 21 top-five finishes in the finals at Chinook in their bid for State. The State swim meet will be held in Conrad this Saturday and Sunday, July 29-30.
