Thomas L. Farrell, 87, of Laurel, Mont., passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at home.
At his request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
He was born Nov. 8, 1935, in Glasgow, Mont. Tom graduated from Glasgow High School in 1953 where he was selected as Halfback for the All American Football Team. He attended the University of Montana for a short time before enlisting in the Navy in 1955. He was stationed in Japan, received a medal of good conduct in 1958 and continued to serve our country through 1963.
On Nov. 14, 1959, he married Mildred Eckhardt in Billings, Mont., where they resided until 2003 then moved to Laurel.
Tom was an excellent salesman, selling sporting goods for Rawlings for most of his life, retiring and receiving the Rawlings Golden Glove award in 2006. His passion for all things sports created many lifelong relationships both business and personal. He was an avid golfer belonging to the Laurel Golf Club for many years and would love to remind you that he had three hole in one's to his name out there. He was also very active in the local baseball scene. He was inducted into the Fastpitch Hall of Fame in 1980 and the American Legion Hall of Fame in 2007 for his many years of dedicated service.
Tom loved to hunt and fish. He had many cherished memories of fishing at Fort Peck with his nephews. He also enjoyed his time herding cattle on the McIntyre Ranch with his step-brother Jim.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bonnie, Jennie and Mary Ann; and one brother, Ted.
Tom is survived by his wife Millie; daughter Candi (Gary) Cerovski; son Pat; grandchildren Katie and Cody Cerovski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
