Donald Gene Pliley, of Glasgow, Mont.,, passed away at his home, on Thursday, June 22, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Don was 90 years old, born Nov. 7, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Don's family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Bell Mortuary in Glasgow. A funeral will be held on Thursday, June 29, at 11 a.m., at Glasgow Evangelical Church. There will be a graveside service at Highland Cemetery in Glasgow with a luncheon afterwards at the Glasgow Evangelical Church.
Don moved to Glasgow, as a young man in 1948, where he worked on the family farm. He soon met JoAnn Campbell while she was working at her father's Service Station. They fell in love and Don married the love of his life on Dec. 26, 1951. Don found his calling as a grain farmer, with JoAnn driving truck, hauling grain, and he in the field, they farmed for approximately 40 years, while raising two children.
Don was well known and well liked by many, all around Glasgow. Don and JoAnn were often found having coffee with many of their friends.
Don attended Glasgow Evangelical Church and was well known for his friendliness, his sense of humor, and his compassion for others.
Don and JoAnn were married 71 years at the time of his passing.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma (Mirus) Pliley and Herbert (H.E.) (Gene) Pliley;Don's brothers, Theo (Bud) Pliley and Phil Pliley; and his sister, Vivian (Pliley) Lighthizer.
Don is survived by his wife, JoAnn H. Pliley and his two children, James E. (Patricia) Pliley, Glasgow/Florida and Pamela D. (James) Burch, of Kasson, Minn.; and brothers Bill (Wilma) Pliley, of Glasgow, and Bob Pliley of Riverton, Wyo. Don has nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
