The Glasgow Reds opened up at home June 15 with two wins over the Glendive Blue Devils. They split their doubleheader June 17 against the Miles City Mavericks in Glasgow before dropping a set of games to the Mavericks on the road the following day.
The Reds owned their first game agains the Blue Devils, taking the game by a score of 21-5 after scoring 10 runs in the first and fourth innings to shut the game down early. Glasgow outhit Glendive 8-4 in the win led by Beau Malnaa who went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Mason Hunter, Jack Kolstad, Rance Rhoads, Tatum Hansen, Jordan Plummer and Juliun Benson also connected at bat. Kolstad, Plummer and Benson added two RBIs each. Hunter led in stolen bases with three followed by Kolsad and Rhoads both with two.
Malnaa earned the win on the mound, pitching for three innings. He allowed five runs and three hits. Rhoads threw the final two innings, giving up one hit while throwing five strikeouts.
Glasgow won the second game of the evening by four runs, 9-5. The Reds scored once in the first, twice in the second, sent five runners home in the fifth and sealed it with a final run in the bottom of the sixth inning. All of Glendive's runs came in the top of the fifth. Glasgow outhit the visitors 10-8.
Hansen, Plummer, Malnaa and Johnny Grimes each connected twice at bat while Rhoads and Benson added one hit each. Grimes led the team in RBIs with three followed by Plummer with two. Hansen stole bases to lead Glasgow while Benson, Hunter, Kolstad and Malnaa stole one each.
Plummer spent six innings on the mound to earn the win. He gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out six and giving up no walks. Hunter relieved Plummer for the final inning, allowing one run and throwing one strikeout.
The Reds hosted Miles City Saturday and fended off a seventh-inning rally by the Mavericks to post an 8-4 victory in the first game. Glasgow scored five times in the bottom of the fifth to start the game's scoring and added three runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Mavericks outhit the Reds 10-8.
Hansen and Benson were both 2-for-3 at bat while Hunter, Kolstad, Plummer and Malnaa notched a hit a piece. Hansen sent four runners home to lead in RBIs. Rhoads and JT Sprague added one RBI each. Hansen also led in stolen bases, getting away with larceny twice.
The win went to Rhoads who spent all seven innings on the mound for the Reds. He struck out seven while giving up four runs on 10 hits.
Miles City took the second game of the afternoon 12-10 after outhitting Glasgow 16-8. Hunter started the game on the mound for the Reds, pitching for five and two-thirds innings, giving up 10 runs on 14 hits while striking out six Mavericks. Benson took the loss in the final two and one-third innings. He struck out two while allowing two runs on two hits.
Hansen, Sprague and Plummer connected twice at the plate for Glasgow with Plummer sending three Reds home while Sprague added two RBIs. Rhoads and Benson also added a hit each for Glasgow. Hunter led in stolen bases with three followed by Benson and Hansen both with two.
The Reds lost both games Sunday on the road by a 10-run margin, 14-4 and 16-6. Glasgow was outhit 13-8 in the opening tilt, scoring three times in the second and one in the fifth as the game ended in six innings.
Kolstad opened the game pitching for Glasgow, going three innings and giving up eight runs on six hits with one strikeout in taking the loss. Grimes pitched in relief, allowing six runs and seven hits.
Benson went 4-for-4 at bat with one RBI. Hansen had two hits with one RBI and Rhoads connected on 2-of-3 at-bats. Benson also led in stolen bases with two.
Miles City took an early lead over Glasgow in the second match-up, leading 15-0 heading into the fifth. All of Glasgow's runs came in the fifth before the Mavericks scored a final run in the bottom of the inning to end the game early. Miles City connected 20 times at the plate while Glasgow notched only four hits.
Cash Stulc took the loss on the mound, giving up five runs on nine hits with one strikeout. Aiden Price started the game for Glasgow, giving up seven run son five hits with three strikeouts over two innings. Dylan Plummer, in relief, allowed three runs and three hits.
Benson, Hansen, Malnaa and Kolstad were the Reds' hitters in the game with Benson sending two teammates home. Hansen and Malnaa added one RBI each. Hunter and Hansen both had a stolen base.
The Reds will be on the road this week. Glasgow travels to Sidney Thursday, June 22, to take on the Richland Patriots at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. The Reds will be in Billings Sunday and Monday, June 25 and 26, for a set of doubleheaders. Glasgow plays the Billings Cardinals Sunday at 3 and 5 p.m. Monday they face the Billings Blue Jays at noon and 2 p.m.
