Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

George 'Bud' Knudson

Our dear, dear father, George "Bud" Knudson passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Mont.

Services are being planned for later this summer.

Dad was born May 21, 1928, to George and Margaret Knudson on their homestead south of Saco, Mont. He graduated from Saco High School in 1947.

When Dad started school he didn't know his name was George, as he was always called Buddy since his dad's name was George. He was known by his nickname Bud in the Saco Community and by close friends.

Dad was a genuine cowboy. He and his two brothers raised Hereford cattle in the Saco area for many years. After selling the ranch, Dad went into business as a Rug Doctor Representative for 29 years retiring in 2010 at the age of 82.

Our mother Renée Walker married dad in Helena, Mont., on Sept. 10, 1949. Dad met her through his friend Harvey Erickson who was a cousin of Renée's. When Dad met her he told Harvey that she was the girl he was going to marry. They were married over 65 years. Mom died in March 2015. To this union were born four daughters and a son.

Dad was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in December 1955. His strong faith in our God Jehovah kept him going for 68 years. As a spiritual man, he helped many learn that God's name is Jehovah, his son's name is Jesus, and how important the Bible is. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he firmly believed that when we die we are just asleep in the grave until Jehovah God awakens us in resurrection back to the earth which will then be peaceful and a paradise. One of his favorite scriptures was Revelation 21:4 which tells us that in just a little while longer death will be no more, and neither will there be mourning, outcry, or pain.

Preceding him in death are his loving wife Renée; his parents George and Margaret Knudson; infant brother Freddy; brother Kenny (Jane) Knudson; brother Ray Knudson; sister Mary Stewart; and son-in-law John Rock.

Dad is survived by his daughter, Judy Rock, of Saco, and her sons, Dan Rock, of Saco, and Sean Rock, of Billings, Mont., and daughter Charlotte (Calvin) Frank and Charlotte's son Jared (Madison) Wanke, all of Long Beach, Wash. His second daughter Cathy (John) Donald, of Langley, British Columbia, Canada, and her son Caleb (Jaime) Donald, and their children, Aurora and Ethan Donald, of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, her daughter Erin (Corey) Fehr, of Peachland, British Columbia, and their children Rylan, Hunter and Surenna Cook, of Nanaimo, British Columbia, her son Jordan Donald and his children Tristan and Journey Rae, of Surrey, British Columbia. His third daughter Nancy Murphy, her daughter Georgia (John) Williamson, and their children, Zoey and Reid of Malta, Mont., son Matthew (Amber) Murphy, and their son Zephyr, of Billings. His son David (Caroline) Knudson, their daughters Morgan Knudson and Mercede (Grant) Eve, and their children Mikah and Emmett, of Great Falls, Mont. His youngest daughter Laurie (Bill) Hodgson and their son, Brendan, of Anacortes, Wash. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Our father was a generous, kind, loving, and gentle man.

Condolences may be left for the family at bellmortuarymontana.com.
