Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The lifetime achievement award of the Montana Municipal Clerks, Treasurers and Finance Officer Association (MMCTFOA) is the recognition of a mark of excellence in the areas of professionalism, service to the association, service to one’s community, as a steward to the public trust, assistance to fellow clerks and experience and expertise in the duties of the profession. This award is you being lifted up by your professional peers, those who know what it takes to keep your expertise and skills honed, to serve your community through your knowledge of the law and your city code and the importance of your role in local government.
It is not every year that we get nominations. This year we had nominations for five of our members and every nomination is appreciated by the committee.
This year’s recipient is Stacey Amundson, the City Clerk/Treasurer of Glasgow. She started as the utility billing clerk for the City of Glasgow in February of 2006. She was promoted to Deputy Clerk in 2007 and then to City Clerk in October of 2009. When she left Glasgow to return to Iowa the City tried to carry on without her and had a challenging time in doing so. She then agreed to continue serving the community remotely and does so today from Iowa , though you wouldn’t know it for how smoothly things are running in Glasgow.
Stacey earned her CMC designation in 2016 from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, and earned the Montana Rural Water Systems, Clerk of the Year award in 2019. She chairs both the Welcoming committee and the IIMC committee for the Association, currently serves on the education committee and has been a presenter during Institute. In her own community she has served on the Job Service Employer Committee.
Stacey helps many clerks on the listserv by answering questions, providing examples of documents, providing instruction on how to process different things in Black Mountain Software and with helpful reminders of deadlines coming up for all clerks. In the words of one nominator “she has helped me personally many times when I have had questions and she has always been extremely helpful and friendly.” Another offered this characterization “ Stacey is a non-stop guiding force that always takes the time to answer questions even if/when those questions are redundant. She is patient and kind when explaining the duties and tasks and takes time out of her day to send out reminders, WITH the links!”
Some final sentiments to share are that Stacey is simply a gem – someone we are all happy to know and call her our friend and colleague.
Congratulations Stacey.
