The newest member of the Glasgow School Board, Mona Amundson, was sworn in at the May 15 meeting. Board Chairman Alison Molvig and Vice Chair Patt Etchart were re-elected to their offices and Kelly Doornek was re-appointed clerk of the board.

The Glasgow City Council heard some encouraging words about the old Magruder property, better known as Red Rock Plaza or the Farmer's Market on the Fort Peck Highway. Long delinquent on taxes, it has not been accepted as a gift from the owners to the city because of suspected soil contamination.

After a slow start to the 2013 high school track and field season due to inclement weather, things finally started heating up for the Hinsdale Raiders at the District 2C meet held in Glasgow May 8. Dallas Capdeville won the pole vault and 100-meter hurdles. Brett Johnson won third in pole vault and Courtney Capdeville won third in 300 hurdles, second in high jump and second in pole vault.

The Scottie girls didn't know it at the time, but their defeat of Shepherd, 10-5, on Saturday gave them the Eastern B/C Divisional Championship. With the tournament pounded by rain, the divisional championship game was cancelled, giving the Scottie girls, the only undefeated team remaining in the tournament, the title.

Thursday, May 28, 1998

U.S. Senator Max Baucus announced that included in the highway funding bill, which passed Congress, was a provision which will give $6 million to help plan, design and construct the Fort Peck Dam Interpretive Center. "I am very pleased that we were able to get this important funding included in this bill," Baucus said.

On May 18, the Glasgow City Council heard requests for the paving of Scotty Court and roofing work on the city fire stations. Scotty court residents asked for paving, curbs and gutters on their direct street. Mayor Willie Zeller said the council had to have signatures from more than 51 percent of the residents, then the city could get estimates and the work could be done this summer. Darwin Henry left the meeting and returned before adjournment with the signatures in hand.

Chris Syme, who was the head coach for both girls' volleyball and basketball at Lustre Christian High School, as well as being an assistant track coach, has resigned both her coaching and teaching positions. Syme taught English, computers, and health enhancement in addition to serving as the Athletic Director for two of her four years at LCHS.

The Glasgow Boys track team successfully defended its Divisional Championship by scoring 95 points to second place Poplar. This made a sweep of the boys trophies for District 2B. Glasgow was led by three divisional champions: Ryan Rogenes with both the 110 Hurdles and the long jump 21'5.5"; and Jesse Allen's shot put 51'3.5".

Evan Guenther, of Nashua, took first place in the javelin event during the Eastern C Divisional Track Meet held in Glasgow.

Jeremy Radakovich, of Glasgow, sprints for the finish line to place sixth in the 3200 meter run at the divisional track meet. This win assured him a berth to the state track meet in Missoula.

Consolidation of city police and Valley County Sheriff's deputies under one roof is practically a realty. Glasgow city councilmen took the first positive step towards centralizing both law enforcement agencies in the new Valley County courthouse – jail complex, when they unanimously voted to accept the county's price for sharing the modern new facilities still under construction.

It was a busy weekend at Glasgow International airport as an estimated 200 member of the Montana Pilots Association touched down in the Bonnie City for a three-day get-together. As many as 36 light planes lined the parking.

Marv Gardner, of Glasgow, holds a five pound, four ounce walleye caught at McGuire creek recently. The catch puts Gardner in second place in Butches walleye derby.

Glasgow girls track coach Jan Lilletvedt and her two girl team leave for Missoula and the State Class A girls track and field championships. This was the Lassies first year of track competition and the improvement they have shown is mirrored in the state championship qualification of Terry McPherson in the discus and flashy miler Pam Fuhrman.

United Building Center and its staff prepare for a Grand Opening of their new building and wider merchandise and speciality item lines in June. Waiting to serve customers at the Grand Opening are Alan O'Dowd, Dave Ferguson, Stella Dige, Ken Dige and Dan Patterson.

Thursday, May 20, 1948

Sale of the Glasgow hotel and Oasis lounge to Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Trew of Spokane, was announced by Paul. J. Campbell, owner. Mr. Campbell stated he had no plans for the future. He had operated the 38-room hotel and lounge here since the fall of 1933, and has been active in numerous civic and community projects, particularly aviation and development and construction of the Glasgow airport.

Jerry Dull and Patsy Pattison are valedictorian and salutatorian of the Glasgow High School graduating class of 1948. Senior Dull has a straight A average for his high school career. They will both be speakers on the high school commencement program.

Tuesday's maximum temperature of 102 here was the nation's highest for the day. It was a new record for Glasgow. Robert R. Roland, official in charge of the Glasgow Weather Bureau Station said the 102 figure was the highest since records began in 1898, with figures not available for one or two years.

North Star Masonic lodge is another Glasgow organization that is giving active support for the current Deaconess Hospital financial campaign. Mr. Friedlund announced he had received a letter from George W. Lane, lodge secretary, enclosing the lodge's draft for $500 as a contribution to the campaign.

Miss. Arlene Bruce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bruce of Glasgow, and Miss. Helen Tihista, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Tihista, of Glasgow, will be graduated from the Columbus School of Nursing at commencement exercises in the Heisey Memorial Sunday night.
