The Porcupine track teams traveled to the Norm Girard North/East Top Ten Meet in Glasgow May 2 and the Gene Nelson Memorial in Wolf Point May 5. Nashua’s girls team posted 40 points for fifth place in Wolf Point with eight personal records while the boys also took fifth with 50 points and 12 personal best performances. Top Ten results start on page 1B.
GIRLS
Madison Harris set personal records in the 100 and 200 meters, taking second in both events. She ran a 13.63 in the 100 and a 29.26 in the 200 meters.
Tia Dees won the shot put with a personal best throw of 35-00.00. Maria Grimes took 27th with her 20-04.00 toss. Dees took second in the discus with a throw of 102-09 while Grimes placed 21st with a personal best 50-08 throw.
In the javelin, Dees put up a personal best throw of 102-10 for second place. Grimes also set a personal record with her 58-04 throw, taking 20th place. Marlo Schulte took 21st with a throw of 54-10.
Schulte also competed in the long and triple jumps, setting personal records in both. She took 11th in the long jump with a leap of 12-06.00 and tied for 11th in the triple with her 26-04.00 distance.
BOYS
Grady Nielsen led the Nashua boys in the shot put, taking third place with a 37-06.00 throw. Tyecom Adkins placed 19th with a 31-01.50 toss. David Kennedy set a personal best with a 19-05.00 throw and took 33rd place.
Nielsen won the discus with a personal best 113-11 throw while Adkins also set a personal record at 91-04, placing ninth. Damon Adkins threw 77-03 for 16th place and Kennedy finished in 31st with a 47-00 toss.
Xander Pugh won the javelin with a distance of 129-00, followed by D. Adkins in third, who threw a personal best 116-06. EvRhet Pugh also posted a personal best. He threw 101-08 for 13th place. Kevan Viste took 16th place with a throw of 96-00. T. Adkins placed 24th with a distance of 66-11 and Kennedy threw 55-05, a personal record, for 28th place.
X. Pugh also won the long jump, leaping 20-08.75. Viste, E. Pugh, D. Adkins and T. Adkins all set personal records in the event. Viste jumped 15-10.75 for 13th, followed directly by E. Pugh in 14th with a 15-09.00 jump. D. Akins took 16th with his 15-04.50 jump and T. Adkins leapt 14-05.75 for 21st place.
In triple jump, X. Pugh put up a distance of 38-06.00 for second place. E. Pugh set a personal best and placed eighth at 34-10.00. Viste jumped 33-07.75 for 10th place.
Kennedy also ran the 1600 meters in 8:34.84 for 12th place.
Nashua will attend the District 2B/3C Track Meet this Saturday, May 14. Competition begins at 9 a.m. at Scottie Field.
