LC Lions

The Lustre Christian boys track team attended the Norm Girard North/East Top Ten Meet in Glasgow May 2 before being joined by the girls team at the Fairview Invite May 4. The girls put up four points for 13th place in Fairview with eight personal records and two season records. The boys took third place with 65 points and 22 personal bests and one season record. Results from the Top Ten Meet start on page 1B. Rachel Pew led the Lions in the 100 meters with a personal best time of 14.74 and a 16th place finish. Angie Fontus ran a 15.78, a personal record, for 31st place. Mana Okamoto ran a 17.41 for 35th while Meredith Valentine set a season record and finished 36th with a time of 19.55.Okamoto also set a personal record in the 200 meters, running a 36.82 for 18th place.

Valentine set a personal record and finished fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 4:36.81. Fontus took ninth in the 1600 meters, running the four laps in 7:40.69. Okamoto put up a personal record in the 300m hurdles, placing eighth with a time of 1:14.44

The 4x100 relay took eighth place. Anna Teichroew, Valentine, Fontus and Okamoto teamed up for a time of 1:08.09.

In the shot put, Valentine led the Lions with a throw of 22-10.00 and a 28th place finish. Pew threw 21-06.00 for 33rd and Teichroew placed 34th with a personal best 20-11.00 throw.

Fontus set a personal best in the long jump with a distance of 10-10.00 and took 18th place. Okamoto was directly behind her with a personal best 9-08.00 jump. Valentine set a season record and finished 21st with a 6-02.50 jump.

BOYS

Ife Aniobi led the Lions in the 100 meters, taking 16th with a personal best time of 12.37. Byron Ewing also set a personal record, taking 24th at 12.65. Elijah Lenihan came in 45th with his personal record time of 13.30.

Jasiah Hambira won the 200 meters with a time of 23.29. Emeka Aniobi put up a personal best in the 400 meters at 59.40 and finished in 12th place. Nathan Fast also had a personal record in the race – 1:08.53 – to take 21st place.

Hambira put up a personal record in the 800 meters, taking sixth place with a time of 2:19.89. Diek Olfert took 13th with a time of 2:28.85. In the 1600 meters, Hambira finished ninth with a personal best time of 5:31.66. Naveen Pilla also set a PR in the race, finishing in 26th place and 6:30.51.

Pilla finished seventh in both the 110m and 300 hurdles. He ran the prior in 22.88 and established a personal record of 53.52 in the latter. Cayden Klatt set a season record of 58.14 in the 300m hurdles for an eighth place finish. I. Aniobi and Lenihan both set personal records in the race, finishing in ninth and 10th places, respectively. I. Aniobi ran a 58.81 while Lenihan posted a 59.51 time.

Terran Joseph, E. Aniobi, I. Aniobi and Braden Ewing teamed up to run a 47.87 for second place in the 4x100 relay. By. Ewing, Lenihan, Joseph and Johnslee Pierre handed off the baton in the 4x400 relay, finishing in 3:49.95 and second place.

Klatt led the team in the shot put, throwing a personal best 36-00.00 for 11th place. Mason Hilkkemann also put up a personal record, finishing in 19th place with a 33-05.00 throw. By. Ewing took 21st with a 32-08.00 distance, followed by Br. Ewing in 22nd, with a personal record 32-03.00 and Nathan Fast in 23rd, also with a personal best 31-06.50 throw. I. Aniobi took 29th with a 29-08.00 toss.

Hilkemann’s personal best 85-04 throw in the discus put him in 23rd, followed directly by Fast with an 83-10 throw. I. Aniobi threw a personal best 81-05 for 26th place and Hambira took 34th with a 72-06 throw, also a personal record.

Lenihan took 17th in javelin with a personal best 110-01 throw. Hilkamann threw 104-09 for 23rd place. Fast and Klatt tied for 38th place. Both threw a personal best 87-10. Olfert placed 43rd with an 84-10 throw.

Hambira won the high jump after clearing 6-00.00. Pierre set a personal best and finished third with a 5-10.00 height. Lenihan cleared 5-08.00 for sixth place and Olfert tied for eighth at 5-04.00.

Br. Ewing jumped 19-09.00 in the long jump, taking second place. Joseph took fifth with an 18-11.00 distance and Pierre was a place and one inch behind him. Olfert’s personal best jump of 17-02.00 put him in a tie for 17th place.

Br. Ewing won the triple jump at 40-03.50 and Olfert placed eighth with a 33-07.50 distance.

Lustre Christian will attend the District 2B/3C Track Meet this Saturday, May 14. Competition begins at 9 a.m. at Scottie Field.
