Law Enforcement Report

For the week of April 24 through 29, there were nine motor vehicle stops, four reports of loose cows, two reports of a loose dog, one report of a lost dog, one report of loose goats, and one report of loose horses.

Monday, April 24

1520 – Reporting party called in to alert about a fire. She didn’t have much information to pass on except a description of the house and stated her husband was in the area to see if there was anything that needed done before people arrived. She was not aware of any propane tanks or other structures around. She also stated the house has been abandoned for a long time. Later Roosevelt 911 reported a house on fire and the location was provided. Long Run Fire and Nashua Fire were contacted. At 1857, Long Run stated they were still on the scene as the fire got into a bunch of trees and they had to cut them down. The area will be smoking for several days.

1639 – Reporting party called stating she was involved in the scam on Facebook. Someone, posting as another person, had a post that stated she or her husband got a new job and were moving, selling household items. She contacted “the seller” by Facebook messenger and she sent a payment of $100 through Zelle. She was told it didn’t go through and requested she resend, and her original payment would be refunded. She received a confirmation text stating it was refunded. This happened a couple of times for $300. The caller was informed a deputy would contact her and get a scam packet to help notify the proper people.

1703 – Caller reported he’s trying to sell an item and he believes he’s being scammed by someone interested in buying it. Caller was patched through to a deputy.

Tuesday, April 25

0550 – BNSF called to give a courtesy notice that the railroad crossing on 4th St. N. is malfunctioning and technicians are en route.

1336 – Caller wanted to know if dispatch has received calls about Medicare calling people and asking for their numbers. Dispatch advised they were not aware of anyone calling in to report this. The caller indicated she did give them the number without thinking. She was advised to call the number on the back of her Medicare card and report the situation to them so they can place the information on her actual account. The caller stated the female had a foreign accent and when she requested to speak to a supervisor, a male got on the line that spoke better English to understand.

2144 – 911 call was received stating her nephew told her that the fire from yesterday started up again. He stated he can see the flames. The reporting party also stated she was concerned about her friend who lives in the general area of the fire as she is on oxygen. At 0109, all units were clear of the fire.

Wednesday, April 26

0908 – Reporting party called in reporting she also was scammed out of money from the Facebook post of the person selling household items on Facebook. Caller tried to buy a refrigerator, put $100 down to hold it via Paypal. The person told her to use friends and family on the payment site. She did, but the person indicated it didn’t go through, so they were going to refund that money. She was then told by the person to use Venmo, so she paid another $100, but then there was an issue with that also. The reporting party noticed a funny email address then a different phone number. So far the reporting party has been able to get the money she put on Venmo back from her bank but the Paypal account she is still waiting on. She did file a fraud claim with Paypal.

1846 – Reporting party said they have a vehicle that hit a deer in Richland County along Hwy 248. The Sidney dispatcher provided the Valley County Dispatcher phone number for a possible wrecker as the accident is about an hour away from Valley County. Phone numbers for wreckers were provided.

2016 – Deputy advised there’s a pickup on the south side of US 2. She didn’t stop but notified another deputy about it. At 2206, the other deputy advised they were unable to locate the vehicle.

Thursday, April 27

1115 – Reporting party called stating she was involved in an accident. A description of the other vehicle was provided and the driver stated there was no damage, but now her mother has filed a claim. The reporting party believes the accident occurred about 1045-1050 hours this morning and believes they each backed into each other.

Friday, April 28

1228 – A male called stating there is junk vehicles, a car and a motorcycle that have been parked there for five years. He states that with two apartment buildings in the area there is limited parking. Dispatch advised him that the Glasgow Police Department does know about the vehicles and the owner has been talked to. The caller then stated he just wants the vehicles to be taken away. At 1229, an officer advised he would go mark the vehicles in a little bit.

1406 – Reporting party stated he was westbound on US Highway 2 and an eastbound freightliner pulling a trailer passed another semi on a hill. The reporting party said he had to hit the shoulder to keep from getting hit. The freightliner should nearly be in Glasgow by now. An officer was notified.

1541 – A 911 call was received from a male who states there is a gas leak across from the address under the bridge for the railroad tracks. He states he can hear hissing and he has already called MDU. At 1542, reporting party stated it was a courtesy call of a gas leak at Tampico Road. The line is under water and leaking gas.

1546 – Reporting party called and said a resident is getting threatening to the secretary and to her. He has hit the secretary’s desk twice now. An officer was advised who gave the male a ride home.

1920 – A deputy is out with a public assist call. Deputy advised the driver wasn’t feeling good so she pulled over.

2012 – A game warden called and said an injured deer is down by the pond near the road that goes under the railroad. None of them are on duty at this time so wanted to pass it along to dispatch. At 2027, it was reported an officer walked around and couldn’t find the injured deer. He did state there was a dead one by MT Highway 42 on the south side of the highway. DOT was contacted about the deer.

2234 – Caller reported a truck in the ditch. The lights are on but couldn’t tell if there was someone in the vehicle or any injuries. At 2307, a deputy noted nothing in the area so far but did find one parked in the road. At 2313, the reporting party was contacted and a better description was provided.

2335 – Caller reported she hit a deer. She is in the westbound lane and the deer is in the eastbound lane. The driver’s side door won’t open as the fender is pushed into it and the tire. There are no injuries. She wants a tow truck out of Scobey to tow.

Saturday, April 29

0940 – A deputy is out with an abandoned vehicle. There is a back window broken on the vehicle. He attempted to call the registered owner but was not able to get anyone to answer.

2326 – An assist citizen call was recorded. The motorcycle flagged them down.
