Clarence Alfred Hames

Clarence Alfred Hames went to meet his maker Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He went in his sleep with loved ones with him.

Funeral is to be announced at a further date and will be held in Scobey, Mont.

Clarence was born April 2, 1945, in Scobey to William and Mae Hames. He was raised and graduated in 1963, Peerless, Mont. Clarence went to Havre and Wahpeton, N.D., schools.

After that Clarence then enlisted in the Navy, where he received his basic training at the United States training center. Upon graduation, Clarence received the Yeoman award. He spent four years from Nov. 4, 1966, to Aug. 3, 1970, in the service and was a Vietnam veteran.

During his service, Clarence was sent to North Island, Imperial Break, Guam and Vietnam. He was an aircrewman in the typhoon trackers and flew in a superconnie. He was the youngest crewman to have his own plane in his squadron.

When Clarence got out of the service he married Rosa Sylvia Garcia and moved back to Peerless and worked for Lester Estison as a mechanic. Clarence and Rosa had two sons, Ross Duane and Ben Wayne. Clarence and Rosa divorced.

Clarence then got together with Sharon Anderson and they married and had 45 years together until he passed. He had four stepsons, William, Duane, Skeg and Tom and one step-daughter Raelyn. Clarence and Sharon moved to Fairview, Mont., and then to Sidney, Mont.

Clarence worked for Hi-line trucking during the oil boom. He started out driving a water truck and then he drove truck 42 that moved the heavy equipment. We then moved the family to Glasgow, Mont., in 1984 and Clarence went to work for Farm Equipment and was their combine mechanic. When he retired from that, he drove the semi for them hauling equipment from place to place until he retired again.

Clarence worked for Donny Renner in the spring through harvest. He then would help his cousin Ron Fladager with harvest. In the winter, we would go to Salome, Ariz., for five and a half months out of the year.

Clarence had a lifetime membership with the VFW, Elks and NRA.

Clarence was proceeded in death by his father and mother; sister Norma Jean; baby brother Jamie; stepson Skeg Anderson; and granddaughters Ashley Anderson and Michelle Everson.

Surviving include Ellen Hames, Debby (Frank) Jones, Wanda (John) Morrison, Winnifred (Randy) Augusta. Clarence had many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandkids.
