Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Raised In Frazer, Serving Glasgow – GPD's Newest Officer Sworn In

A new Glasgow Police Department officer was sworn in during the regular meeting session of the Glasgow City Council on March 20 by Mayor Rod Karst. Wyatt Miller, who grew up in Frazer and graduated from Wolf Point in 2019, started serving the community at the beginning of April. He will complete 12 to 18 weeks of on-the-job field training with the goal of attending the Police Academy for three months after the completion of the training.

Though Miller admits he does not have any formal education in police work and taking this opportunity was a last minute life decision, he is excited to see what this journey brings for him and his family. "This position just fits me as a person, and my perspective on life right now. I have enjoyed a good roadway in life, been on the straight and narrow, and discipline has always being a part of my life," explained Miller.

In addition to serving and protecting the community, he is currently active in the National Guard as a 91B wheeled vehicle mechanic and has eight months left of his six-year contract. Though at this time he is unsure whether or not to resign when it is time, he has enjoyed serving. Mechanics seemed like a easy choice as he grew up messing with vehicles due to both parents serving in the Army as mechanics. "I grew up working on all kinds of vehicles," reflected Miller. After graduating high school, he started working as a tire mechanic, and then worked at the State Prison as part of his National Guard assignment. Miller then moved to Billings for a short while with his wife, Abby, and then they both decided it was time to move back closer to home. Prior to taking this role in the Glasgow Police Department, Miller had been working at Torgersons, in Glasgow.

In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and doing competitive .22 shooting at the range near the Glasgow airport as part of the National Rife League. "It really keeps me busy on the weekend!," said Miller. With most of his family still living in Frazer, he sees himself settling in Glasgow for the long-term. "We have set our roots here. We have bought a house and we love the atmosphere of Glasgow. It's a great place to be and plus it's so close to our family," explained Miller.

Miller is looking forward to taking on additional roles within the community, including being an emergency medical technician and being able to help others overall. "This position allows me to do things I have always wanted to do. It gives me the opportunity to help others," said Miller.

He welcomes the community to wave as he drives by or to start a conversation if you see him out and about. He is excited to serve the community of Glasgow and can't wait to make the area a better place.
