Ballots Will Arrive In Mailboxes
The Election Team at the Clerk and Recorder’s office will be running mail-ballot elections for four school districts, Glasgow, Hinsdale, Lustre, and Nashua, and one Special District, St. Marie Rural Fire District. All ballots were mailed on April 14.
Glasgow School District’s trustee election has been canceled; Angie Page and Blaine White filed to retain their seats on the school board. Glasgow School District’s ballot includes one proposition. The District is asking to increase local taxes in the amount of $32,714.81 to support the general fund (maintaining and operating the schools).
Hinsdale School District’s trustee election has also been canceled. Two candidates, Jared Sloan and Trisha Handley, filed for the two trustee positions. Jared and Trisha will replace Keith Beil and Jared Albus on Hinsdale’s School Board. Hinsdale’s ballot includes two propositions. The Hinsdale Elementary District is asking to increase local taxes in the amount of $14,379.57 for the purpose of ongoing operation and maintenance of the elementary school. Hinsdale’s High School District is asking to increase local taxes in the amount of $2,010.80 for the purpose of ongoing operation and maintenance of the high school.
Lustre Elementary’s trustee election has been canceled with only Jeffrey Damboise filing to retain his position on the school board. Lustre Elementary School District’s ballot includes a proposition to increase for general levy fund in the amount of $5,867.69 for the purpose of operating and maintaining the school.
Nashua has six candidates running for two positions on their school board. The candidates are, in no particular order, Sheila Toavs Miller, Tyler Skolrud, Teresa Kennedy, Patricia Sibley, Joe Laumeyer, and William Philippi. The two open seats are now held by Sheila Toavs Miller and Matt Garsjo. Nashua’s ballot also includes a Building Fund Reserve levy proposition in the amount of $400,000 per year for five years for a total of $2,000,000.
Opheim School District had only two candidates file for the two open seats on their school board so that trustee election has been cancelled. Doug Mason filed to keep his seat and Loni Gundermann filed to replace Justin Furhmann on the board. Opheim did not call for a building reserve levy or a general fund levy election this year.
Frazer will be running their own election.There are four candidates running to fill the two open positions on Frazer’s School Board. The candidates are: Lillie Cox, Yancey Beston, Jewel Ackerman Fourstar, and Michael Cole. Frazer’s board also did not call for a building reserve levy or a general fund levy election this year.
St. Marie Rural Fire District Board has three open positions this year. Three candidates and one write-in candidates filed for these positions. The names of Mary Jean Slaughter, Ann duTreil Frost, and Chimene L Webster will appear on the ballot and Jennie Ennis-Mason is a declared write-in candidate.
