A Successful Year For the Easter Egg Hunt

Spring finally made it's appearance to the area this past weekend and it couldn't have arrived at a more perfect time. Families were able to enjoy the Easter weekend with spring like temperatures and area kids got outside for the annual Kiwanis Club Easter Egg Hunt at Hoyt Park, near the Glasgow Civic Center, on April 8.

Though the ground was still partly frozen in spots and covered with snow and ice in others, that did not deter participating children from gathering up as many eggs as they could. While kids waited for the clock to strike 11:30 a.m., the official start of the hunt, glee, laughter and excitement rang from the outskirts of the park as the eggs glimmered off the sunlight, waiting to be picked up by little hands.

According to Glasgow Kiwanis Secretary Charles Wilson, approximately 4,000 plastic eggs were filled with candy by the Kiwanis Club, assisted by Prairie Ridge residents, prior to the event. The morning of April 8, the eggs were hidden and scattered throughout Hoyt Park by Kiwanis Club members, eight students from the Glasgow High School Key Club and the Middle School Builders Club, which are student organizations sponsored by Kiwanis. It took five minutes for the egg hunt to be completed by all of the kids who attended.

The Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital and Reynolds helped sponsor the event again this year, and the Glasgow Kiwanis is appreciative of their continued support.
