Hoyer earned the scholarship for his numerous hockey achievements. The Glasgow Ice Dawgs senior is in the top five percent of his class and plans on attending Montana Tech in Butte to study electrical engineering. He served as the Dawgs' captain this year, has officiated for six years at a level 3 and played hockey for 12 years. He plans to continue officiating in Butte while attending school. Hoyer is also his senior class president and a member of the National Honor Society. He earned Academic All-State through all four years of his high school career and was selected to the Big Sky High School All-State team during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
