Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Glasgow Elks Lodge #1922 was recently the recipient of another grant from the Elks National Foundation (ENF). The Lodge applied for and received a $2,000 Spotlight Grant. With this grant, the Glasgow Lodge purchased diapers and baby supplies to donate to the diaper drive that was started by the Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center (EMCMHC), the Montana Assertive Community Treatment (MACT) Team, and our local Glasgow Albertsons.
They all saw a need to support those so vulnerable in our community, and they partnered together to start a diaper drive. Albertsons had a collection box out at their store, and many community members donated diapers and supplies, ordered items and asked how to be a part of the solution.
The Elks thought this would be a great project to contribute to, so we applied for this grant to help them out. Diapers and supplies will be distributed through the EMCMHC office for those in need. Several of the contributions have already been distributed to key organizations who frequently are in contact with families who could benefit.
Glasgow Lodge was only able to apply for this grant as they had met the needed minimum donation threshold of local donations to the ENF. We hope to apply for this grant again next year, so we are hoping to get our local donations up to that amount again.
We will be having a special Wednesday Burger Night on Wednesday, March 8, 5 to 7 p.m., and all the proceeds of our burger sales from that night will be donated to the ENF. So come out and grab a great burger for a great cause.
We would also happily accept and appreciate any donations to the ENF from our community or our local Elks members at any time if you are unable to attend that night.
The ENF has gifted the Glasgow Lodge $8,000 in the last few months that we have used to help local community members in need!
