Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
No matter what your age, no matter what your starting point, this program will help you improve your body. Through weight bearing exercises, repetitious stretching, practicing balance and improving bone density you will find yourself loving your knew body in just 12 weeks.
The Strong People, Strong Bodies program combines these exercises to build strength, stamina, balance and reduce the effects of osteoporosis. These elements work most powerfully when used together. This program is offered to men or women of all ages, but targets ages 30 to 100.
Program benefits of strength training have been studied extensively and include: increased muscle mass and strength; improved bone density and reduced risk for osteoporosis and related fractures; reduced risk for diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression, and obesity; improved self-confidence, sleep and vitality and balance.
Valley County Extension Agent Roubie Younkin is offering Valley County people a unique program targeting healthy living and building strength. Strong Women exercises combined with aerobic activities, exercises to reduce the effects of arthritis and even some healthy cooking tips and stress reduction are all a part of this healthy living program.
Classes are ongoing on Tuesday and Thursdays at St. Raphael’s parish center gym from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to participate and welcome to join at any point during the 12 weeks. Please contact the Valley County Extension Office at 228-6241 for more information and to sign up for this fun healthy program.
