Frazer Boys Lose to Brockton

Frazer's boys basketball team put up an impressive second-quarter against the Brockton Warriors Friday, but were unable to hold off the visitors, falling 76-52 in the non-conference game. The Bearcubs hold a 0-5, 0-11 overall, record.

Brockton took a 20-10 lead after one quarter of play before both teams turned up the offensive heat in the second. Frazer dropped in 16 points with six three-pointers while Brockton put up 23 points for a 43-36 lead at the half. The Warriors regained control of the game in the third with a 21-point showing while holding the Bearcubs to 4 points. Frazer was outscored 12-8 in the final eight minutes.

Ty Fourstar led Frazer with 15 points, including two treys and a 1-for-3 showing at the line. Jarvis GoodBird scored 12 with two three-pointers and hitting 2-of-2 free throws. Travis Long drained three from beyond the arc for 9 points and Joseph Beston hit 2-of-6 free throws on his way to 8 points. Cassius Smoker scored 5 with a shot from downtown and Zayden Hentges hit a three-pointer and 1-of-3 bonus shots for 4 points. Frazer hit 50.0 percent from the free throw line.

Brockton was called for 14 fouls, six in the second half, while Frazer had 22, split evenly between the halves. GoodBird, Beston and Hentges were each called for four while Fourstar and Long had three fouls a piece. Smoker and Christ Fox both drew two whistles.

This week Frazer hosts MonDak Thursday, Feb. 2. The girls varsity teams tip off at 5 p.m. followed by the boys varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

The Nashua Porcupines will be in Frazer Friday, Feb. 3, for Retro Bearcub Night and a 5:30 p.m. girls varsity game and a 7 p.m. boys varsity game. The Bearcubs travel to Lustre Saturday, Feb. 3, for a 5:30 p.m girls varsity game and a 7 p.m. boys varsity game.
