Frazer’s girls basketball team fell 58-17 in Scobey Jan. 19, in their lone contest of the week. The Bearcubs now hold a 1-4, 3-7 overall, record.
Scobey took an early lead, putting up 17 in the first while holding Frazer to 5 points. The Beacubs doubled their score in the second while the Spartans added 12 to their books for a 29-10 lead at the half. Frazer was unable to find their offense in the third quarter, hitting only a single bucket while Scobey put up another 16 points. Frazer was outscored 13-5 in the final eight minutes.
Shakira Beston led the team with 4 points, hitting 2-of-2 free throws. Angel Nelligan and Audrey Smoker each hit a three-pointer while Angeline White added 3 points with a 1-for-1 showing at the line. Baily Beston added a bucket.
Opheim’s Carrie Taylor, captain of the Spartans, scored 15 points with three treys.
The Spartans held their fouls to seven, two in the second half as Frazer ran into foul trouble with 11 in the final two quarters, 15 total fouls.
Isabelle Even, Lianna Jackson and B. Beston each had three fouls while Leigha Smoker and Lola Romero had two infractions a piece. Nelligan and Smoker drew a whistle each.
Frazer’s lone game this week is Friday, Jan. 27, when the Bearcubs host the Brockton Warriors for MMIW Night. The girls game begins at 6 p.m. followed by the boys tip off at 7:30 p.m.
