LC Boys Defeat NC Boys Lions 4-0 in Conference

Lustre Christian’s boys basketball team traveled to Saco to take on the Mavericks Jan. 13, where the Lions demonstrated why they sit atop the Class C Boys basketball rankings. The Lions won the game 78-34 with 12 members of the team putting up points. Lustre’s Saturday night game against Dodson was postponed to Jan. 19 due to freezing rain/black ice conditions.

The Lions roared out to a 19-8 lead in the first eight minutes and increased the margin to 42-20 by the half. Lustre outscored North Country 20-5 in the third and 16-9 in the fourth quarter.

Elijah Lenihan powered the Lions with 17 points, including a three-pointer. Cayden Klatt added 12 with 4-for-5 shooting at the free throw line. Jasiah Hambira added 9 with a shot from downtown. Braden Ewing and Byron Ewing both added 8 points while Prestyn Klatt drained two from beyond the arc for 6 points. Diek Olfert and Johnslee Pierre added 5 a piece with Olfert going 3-for-4 at the line and Pierre hitting a trey. Clay Reddig, Bryan Chen, Cam Reddig and Alex Chen all scored 2 points.

Both teams were called for 15 fouls. North Country had four in the second half while Lustre was called for six after halftime.

Cl. Reddig was called for two while Klatt, By. Ewing and Hambira each drew two whistles. B. Chen, Olfert, Ca. Reddig, A. Chen, Lenihan and Pierre had one foul each.

Lustre Christian hosted the Dodson Coyotes Tuesday night but scores were unavailable at press time. The story will appear in next week’s Courier.

The Lions travel to Nashua Thursday, Jan. 19 for a girls JV half-game at 4 p.m. and a boys JV half-game at 5 p.m., followed by the girls varsity game at 6 p.m. and the boys varsity match at 7:30 p.m. Lustre Christian hosts Culbertson Saturday, Jan. 21, with the boys JV game at 2:30 p.m. followed by the girls varsity game at 4 p.m. and the boys varsity tip off at 5:30 p.m.
