Scottie Boys Pick Up Two Wins

The Scottie boys basketball team picked up two non-conference wins after a disappointing return to the hardwood against Malta. Glasgow fell 62-49 to Malta in Tuesday night's Color Rush game but recovered with a 70-32 win over North Country Thursday and a 59-24 victory over Scobey Friday.

In their first game back after the holiday break, the Scotties struggled to find their rhythm. They trailed 17-10 at the end of the first quarter. Glasgow outscored Malta 11-10 in the second, the only quarter in which they would do so.

The Scotties came out stronger in the third quarter, powered by Wyatt Babb and Keigan Ingram's 17 combined points, but the Mustangs put up 23 points. Malta outscored Glasgow by a single point in the fourth – 12-11 – for the win over the Scotties.

Babb led Glasgow with 29 points, 18 in the second half. He hit the Scotties' only outside shot and went 2-for-2 at the free throw line. Ingram added 10 points with a 4-for-4 performance at the line. Riley Smith hit 2-of-2 and added 6 points. Ashton Potter and KJ Ingram both added a basket.

The Scotties had 16 fouls compared to Malta's 11. Smith and Ke. Ingram both had four fouls while Toryn Richards was called for three. Potter and KJ Ingram each drew two whistles while Babb had one infraction.

Smith had two assists and Babb added one. Smith also had a steal and a block. Ke. Ingram added two steals but had three turnovers while Babb had five turnovers with one steal and one block. Richards added one assist with two turnovers.

Babb led in rebounds with 17, nine offensive and eight defensive. Ke. Ingram added six boards, four offensive. Smith pulled down four rebounds, KJ Ingram three, Richards two and Potter one board.

Glasgow returned to action Thursday night in Saco, after a tough Wednesday practice, to take on the North Country Mavericks. The Scotties fared far better against the Class C team, posting a decisive 70-32 win.

KJ Ingram poured in 10 points in the first quarter as the Scotties took a 20-10 lead. Glasgow outscored North Country 18-7 in the second quarter. The Scotties led 54-27 heading into the final quarter where they outscored the Mavericks by a 16-5 margin.

Cade Hudyma led Glasgow with 20 points followed by Babb with 11. KJ Ingram and Ke. Ingram both added 10 points while Smith hit for 8, including 2-for-2 free throw shooting. Connor Hudyma scored 6 points. Myles Yoakam hit for 3 and Potter added a bucket.

Glasgow had 16 fouls while North Country held theirs to 10. Co. Hudyma was called for four, Smith three and Potter two fouls. Jordan Cook, KJ Ingram, Richards, Babb, Ke. Ingram, Vaughn Miller and Ca. Hudyma drew one whistle a piece.

Babb had a 4-2 assist to turnover ratio while adding one block in the game. Ca. Hudyma had the other block for the Scotties. Potter, Yoakam, Andy Hanson, Smith, Cook, Ca. Hudyma, Ke. Ingram, Miller and Richards each had an assist with KJ Ingram, Smith, Ca. Hudyma and Co. Hudyma having a turnover a piece. Ke. Ingram had three turnovers.

Ca. Hudyma pulled down 10 boards, seven offensive. Babb, Cook and Ke. Ingram each had six rebounds while Smith grabbed five. Co. Hudyma had three while Nick Solorzano and Yoakam had two each. KJ Ingram, Miller and Richards pulled down one rebound a piece.

Glasgow's C squad took on the North Country JV team in a half game where the Scotties came out on top 21-20.

The Scotties led 9-4 at the end of the first while the Mavericks battled back to lead 12-11 at the half. The score stood knotted at 17 after three before Glasgow outscored North Country 4-3 in the final quarter.

Noah Leckie led the Scotties with 8 points followed by Cam Nelson with 6. Davis Tolzien added 3 while Trey Graham and Jorden Wilson had 2 points each.

Glasgow hosted the Scobey Spartans Friday night where the Scotties outscored their guests in all four quarters. The home team led 18-7 at the end of the first and increased that lead to 31-13 by halftime. Glasgow held Scobey to 3 in the third while putting 10 points on the home side of the scoreboard. The Scotties added another 18 in the fourth while holding the Spartans to 8 points.

Ke. Ingram led Glasgow with 15 points followed by Ca. Hudyma with 14, 12 of which came in the fourth quarter. Smith added 10 points, all in the first half with 4-of-4 shooting at the charity stripe. KJ Ingram and Babb added 5 each while Richards scored 4 points. Cook, Yoakam and Co. Hudyma contributed 2 points a piece.

Glasgow drew 12 whistles while Scobey had 16 fouls. Richards was called for three while Potter, Babb and Ke. Ingram had two each. Smith drew the officials' attention once.

Babb led in rebounds with 16, seven offensive, followed by Ke. Ingram with 13, four offensive. Ca. Hudyma grabbed nine boards while KJ Ingram, Smith and Cook had four each. Richards had two and Yoakam one rebound.

Smith had a 2-to-1 steal to turnover ratio. Richards also had two steals, but with four turnovers. Babb and KJ Ingram had three steals each with Babb turning the ball over nine times and Ingram four times. Ke. Ingram had one steal with two turnovers.

Babb led in assists with eight followed by KJ Ingram, Yoakam and Ke. Ingram with two each. Potter, Ca. Hudyma and Richards had one assist a piece.

Glasgow's JV team also turned in a win over Scobey, taking the game 48-31. Glasgow led 14-8 after one, 24-15 at the half, and 30-22 after three.

Ca. Hudyma led the team with 21 points with 5-of-8 shooting at the line. Co. Hudyma hit for 8, followed by Miller with 7 and Andy Hanson with 6 points, including 2-for-2 free throws. Cook added 4 and Noah Runner 2 points.

The Scotties return to action Friday, Jan. 13, in Harlem. The C squad plays at 3:30 p.m. followed by the JV game at 5 p.m and the varsity game at 6:30 p.m. The Scottie girls varsity will play at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, Glasgow hosts Poplar for a full slate of games. Boys C hit the court at noon followed by girls C teams at 1:30 p.m. The JV boys tip off at 3 p.m. followed by the girls JV game at 4:30 p.m. Varsity boys start at 6 p.m. and the girls varsity game concludes the night with a 7:30 p.m. game. All games will be on the NFHS network while KLTZ will broadcast the varsity games.
