Scottie Wrestling Ranked Sixth in Class B Poll

Glasgow’s wrestling team sits at number six in the Class B/C Wrestling Coaches Power Poll released Dec. 13. Four Scottie boys made the rankings: Khye Gamas, William Kirkland, Michael King and Mason Donaldson.

Gamas is ranked third at 138 lbs. and Kirkland sits in fifth at 145 lbs. King earned a sixth-place ranking at 160 lbs. while Donaldson is in fifth at 170 lbs. Gamas and Kirkland both placed at the 35th Annual CMR Holiday Classic in Great Falls this past weekend, as did Riley Clampitt for the Scottie girls.

Gamas and Clampitt both earned fifth places: Gamas in the boys 138 lbs. and Clampitt in the girls 152 lbs. category. Kirkland finished in eighth in the boys 145 lbs.

The Scottie boys finished in 29th place out of 54 teams with 53 points while the girls earned 29 points to take 26th place out of 47 teams. Gamas scored 15 points and Kirkland scored 14 for the Glasgow boys. King scored 10 team points while Ted See and Mason Donaldson each put up 7 points. Clampitt scored 15 points, Madison Lamb 10 and Kaylly Turner 4 points for the girls.

Jack Cornwell and King both earned first place finishes at the Walt and Trudy Currie JV Tournament held at Great Falls High Dec. 17. Cornwell won at 152 lbs. and King took first at 160 lbs. Riley Overvold finished in fourth at 182 lbs.

The boys went 15-5 and the girls finished 3-4 at the Fort Benton Mixer held Dec. 15, giving the team an overall 18-9 record at the event.

Glasgow’s Color Rush Night against Malta was scheduled for Dec. 22 but will be postponed to January, date to be announced, due to weather.

The Scotties next return to the mats Tuesday, Jan 3, 2023, with a dual in Havre. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 6 and 7, 2023, the team will attend the 58yh Annual Bismarck Rotary Tournament in Bismarck, N.D.
