Nashua Girls Add Two Wins

Nashua's girls basketball team put two more in the win column this past weekend at home. Friday night, the Porcupines rolled over Glasgow's JV team 37-11. They followed that with a 41-26 victory over Wibaux Saturday.

Nashua outscored Wibaux 10-4 in the opening quarter then shut out their visitors in the second while adding 13 points to their side of the scoreboard. Wibaux hit for 5 in the third while holding Nashua to two free throws but the Porcupines kicked it up in the fourth with 12 points while giving up a single field goal to Wibaux.

Kaitlyn Miller led Nashua with 14 points while Alexis Murdock added 9 points. Tia Dees hit for 8, Guinevere Abern 4 and Madison Harris 2 points.

The Porcupines had 14 fouls, split evenly between the halves. Miller and Gracyn Sibley were each called for four and Harris had three fouls. Dees was called for two while Abern drew a single whistle.

Wibaux hung close with Nashua Saturday through the first three quarters with scores of 8-6, 16-14 and 24-20, but the Porcupines rallied in the fourth with 17 points to take a decisive victory.

Dees led the way with 20 points, followed by Abern with 12. Abern hit a three-pointer and went 3-for-4 at the line. Murdock added 4, Harris 3 and Sibley 2 points.

Nashua had 17 fouls, eight in the second half. Sibley, Harris and Miller were each called for four. Murdock and Dees had two a piece and Abern a single infraction.

Nashua travels to Hinsdale to play the North Country Mavericks Thursday, Dec. 15, with games at 3:30, 5, 6 and 7:30 p.m. The Porcupines will play the Lions at Lustre Friday, Dec. 16, for games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, they host the Dodson Coyotes with games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.
