Scottie Volleyball Ends Season At State

Glasgow's 2022 season came to an end in two games at the All-Class State Volleyball Tournament in Bozeman this past weekend. The trip was the second consecutive one for the Scotties and their third appearance at State in four years.

The Scotties faced the defending and eventual repeat state champions, the Huntley Project Red Devils, in their opening match at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse at Montana State University. Glasgow fell to Huntley Project in three sets, 25-14, 25-16, 25-13.

Glasgow had one aces, 19 kills, 18 assists, 14 blocks and 51 digs in the match while Huntley Project put up eight aces, 46 kills, 75 assists and 40 digs.

Macy Martin had the Scotties' lone ace. Ava Lloyd and Tatum Nyquist each put up five kills while Daley Aune led in assists with 16. Lloyd had 10 blocks for Glasgow and Sammy Tryan led in digs with 16.

The loss bumped the Scotties to the back side of the bracket where they took on the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks. Glasgow took Thompson Falls to four sets but found themselves on the wrong end of the 25-21, 25-22, 16-25, 25-18 match.

The Scotties had six aces, 41 kills, 32 assists, 19 blocks and 80 digs while the Blue Hawks notched six aces, 47 kills, 42 assists, six blocks and 68 digs.

Martin again led Glasgow in aces, this time with three, while Joely Chappell, Aune and Nyquist added one a piece. Nyquist led in kills with 15 followed by Piper Johnson with 10 and Carly Nelson with eight. Aune had 28 of the team's assists and Martin added three. Lloyd stopped nine Blue Hawks' shots while Johnson shut down seven and Hayden Green stopped six. Tryan registered 25 digs for Glasgow while Aune and Nelson added 16 each.

Seniors Aune, Nelson and Tryan were named 1st Team All-Conference on the 2022 District 2B Volleyball Honors Teams while junior Nyquist was named 2nd Team All-Conference. Nelson was named Class B All-State in her senior year.
