Nashua Volleyball

The Porcupines saw their 2022 season come to an end at the District 1C Tournament in Plentywood, held Oct. 27 to 29. Nashua fell to Culbertson in the first round then defeated Frazer to advance to the third round where they lost to Fairview.

Nashua entered the tournament as the 11th seed against sixth-seeded Culbertson. The Porcupines took the match to five sets but fell in the end, 14-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-23, 4-15.

As a team, Nashua had 24 kills, 14 assists, 18 aces, 53 digs and four blocks. Tia Dees led in kills with 10, followed by Kaitlyn Miller with seven. Miller had 12 assists and led in digs with 15. Dees added 13 digs. Guinevere Abern and Dees each had five aces. Dees had two blocks while Miller and Kaitlyn Skolrud added one a piece.

The match moved Nashua into the backside of the bracket where they hit the court against neighbor rivals and 14th seed, the Frazer Bearcubs. Nashua came out on top in three sets, 25-14, 25-11, 25-15.

The Porcupines combined for 29 kills, 18 assists, 25 aces, 13 digs and one block. Dees again led in kills, 18, and blocks, one. Miller led in assists with three and in aces with eight. Abern added six aces. Miller, Gracyn Sibley and Alexis Murdock each notched three digs.

Nashua advanced to Friday’s action to face the Fairview Warriors, the fifth seed. The Porcupines took the first set to the limit but eventually fell in three, 26-28, 5-25, 19-15.

The team compiled 18 kills, 12 assists, five aces, 36 digs and five blocks. Dees led in four categories. She had 10 kills, three aces, 11 digs and four blocks. Miller led in assists with eight. She added five kills and one block to the stats sheet. Miller and Abern each had one aces. Murdock stopped seven Fairview shots while Miller and Skolrud had five blocks each.
