Glasgow's volleyball team concluded their regular season with two conference wins to take the top slot at the District 2B Tournament starting this weekend. The Scotties downed the M-ettes in Malta in four sets Oct. 19 before breaking out the broom against the Wolf Point Wolves at home Oct. 20.
Glasgow beat Malta 25-16, 25-17, 16-25, 25-20. The Scotties had three aces, 35 kills, 29 assists, 17 blocks and 90 digs in the win. Malta put up 13 aces, 41 kills, 39 assists, 10 blocks and 73 digs.
Carly Nelson led the Scotties with two aces and 12 kills. Tatum Nyquist also had 12 kills. Daley Aune continued to lead Glasgow in assists, racking up 27 of the team's total. Piper Johnson stopped six Malta shots and Samantha Tryan notched 33 digs for Glasgow.
The Scottie JV and C teams both lost their matches in Malta. The JV squad lost in five sets, 27-29, 25-21, 15-12, 6-15, 2-15. The Scottie C team lost in four sets, 16-25, 20-25, 15-12, 4-15.
Glasgow closed out the regular season in front of a home crowd with a sweep of Wolf Point, 25-15, 26-24, 25-21. The Scotties had eight aces, 22 kills, 16 assists, seven blocks and 37 digs in their victory. Wolf Point had six aces, 23 kills, 15 assists, 14 blocks and 51 digs.
Aune led in aces with four and assists with 12. Nelson and Ava Lloyd had six kills each. Lloyd had four of the team's blocks while Aune led in assists with 12. Macy Martin notched 12 digs.
Glasgow's JV team also swept Wolf Point, 25-20, 25-17, 15-7. The Scottie C squad lost in four sets, 25-20, 19-25, 10-15, 5-15.
The Scotties ended their reglar season with a 9-4 overall record, 7-1 in conference play. They enter the District 2B Volleyball Tournament in first place and will face the winner of the Harlem/Poplar game at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, in Poplar.
